Students of Michele Wooten are invited to participate in two music festivals during the year. These festivals benefit her piano students by providing them with opportunities to develop their skills in piano solo, piano ensemble, theory and sight reading events.
Multiple Piano Festival
MPF is sponsored by the Boulder Area Music Teachers Association and is one of the only festivals of its kind in the state of Colorado. Held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the event features duet and trio pairs performing together on 12 grand pianos with as many as 36 students playing a single piece led by a conductor. It is an amazing opportunity for students to develop musicianship, build friendships and experience the joy of participating in an “orchestral” experience at piano.
Federated Festival, sponsored by the Boulder Federated MusicClub, is a non-competitive event that encourages students to develop solo and ensemble artistry as well as musicianship skills in theory, sight reading and improvisation. Usually held in March, the Festival provides student exposure to American and world music literature. Gold cups are awarded to students for their achievement of points tallied from their events. The non-competitive aspect of the Festival gives all students the opportunity to be winners.
